A Message From the Superintendent

A Message from the Superintendent

Dear Lyndonville Families,

Good afternoon. Today, May 30, 2023, we held a Lockdown Practice Drill in collaboration with the Orleans County Sheriff's Department.

Drills of this nature are required by the NYS Education Department and are necessary for our Faculty, Staff, and students to be firmly familiar and established in our set emergency procedures. Our partnership and close relationship with the Orleans County Sheriff's Department benefits our entire community. The more opportunities for law enforcement to be on our campus increases their expertise and familiarity of our school buildings and grounds.

In case of a real emergency situation, our first priority will be the safety of our students. We will communicate with families as quickly as possible, but not until students are safe. We will provide directions for parents and guardians for reunification, if necessary.

It is my hope and prayer that we are never in that situation. Please be reassured we have planned and prepared for multiple scenarios. It breaks my heart that drills and preparation like this is necessary. During the drill, students are reassured that this is a drill, and we are just practicing, as we do for Fire Drills.

Thank you for your support of our emergency planning and response efforts. As always, we are so grateful to the Orleans County Sheriff's Department for your continued partnership and dedication to the safety of our learning community.

Please feel free to contact me personally if you have concerns or questions.

Sincerely,

Sharon Smith
