Dear Lyndonville Community,

To date, we have received some questions regarding the absentee ballot process for the upcoming Board elections and budget vote.

Based on those questions, here is some additional information regarding this process:

First, we are carefully following all regulations for this process that has been set up by New York State, and we are in regular contact with the NYS School Boards Association, and our attorney for additional guidance.  Like you, we had many questions regarding this process, as it is brand new to us as well, thus my insistence and assurances we follow the regulations, have a third party inspector, and work closely with the NYS School Boards Association and our attorney.

We have secured a third party inspector directly from the Board of Elections.  This is an additional step we have taken to 100% ensure compliance.

The entire absentee counting process will broadcast via the Internet and will be recorded.  Information regarding that process will be shared later this week or early next week.

Inspectors are required to sign an oath and we will hold them to that oath, as they have been approved by our Board of Education.  We have also doubled the number of inspectors to ensure accuracy and anonymity as well.

Finally, please be certain that if you return TWO ballots in the return envelope, BOTH voters sign the outside of the envelope, per the directions that were enclosed.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Jason Smith, Superintendent of Schools
