Tigers

Select fall sports, including soccer and cross country, will begin on Monday, September 21.

There are big changes this season; please see below for important updates.

On September 9, 2020, the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) announced that sports classified as high risk, Football, Volleyball and Competitive Cheer, would postpone their season to March 1, 2021 . Low and moderate risk sports, including boys and girls Soccer and Cross Country (grades 7-12) , will begin on September 21, 2020.

NYS Department of Health (NYSDOH) and NYSPHSAA provided guidance for Student-Athletes and Teams:
● Students should stay 6 feet apart when possible. If a shorter distance is required by the athletic activity,
students should wear face coverings as tolerated.
● Face coverings are REQUIRED for coaches, staff and players not engaged in physical activity if closer
than 6 feet.
● Students should tell coaches immediately when they are not feeling well.
● Students should wear their own appropriate workout clothing and not share clothing.
● Individual clothing/towels should be brought home to be washed and cleaned after every workout.
● Students are required to bring and use their own water bottle.
● Student-athletes should drink enough fluid before, during and after practice and competition and follow
established guidelines for hydration.
● Student-athletes are encouraged to shower at home as quickly as possible after practice/games.

NYSDOH and NYSPHSAA set the following protocol for Parents/Guardians during practice/games (all
HOME and AWAY events):
● Spectators must maintain 6 feet of physical distance between individuals and/or families at all times.
● Spectators must wear face coverings when they are in common areas and situations where 6 feet of
distancing is not able to be maintained, providing they are over the age of 2 and medically able to
tolerate face coverings.
● No more than 2 spectators per player.
○ The Genesee Region League developed a Fall Spectator Pass that will be given to each player (2 passes) before each game/event. Passes will be collected from spectators at the gate and returned to athletes after the game/event.
● Families should provide personal items to children and clearly label them.
● Families should disinfect student’s personal equipment after each game/practice.
● Athletes and spectators are NOT permitted to attend any practice/game/event if they have tested positive for COVID-19 or exhibit any symptoms related to COVID-19.
