October 28, 2020

Dear Parents,

The challenges of 2020 continue to confront us, and I continue to be proud of the way our District, staff, and students have responded.   I am writing today to share with you an update related to staffing at the Middle/High School.

Effective November 2, Principal Aaron Slack—a certified and former English teacher—will be temporarily assuming a full-time teaching assignment in the area of English at the Middle/High School. This vacancy in the English department is NOT related to COVID-19.    Dr. Slack has graciously agreed to serve in this role as we seek to provide a longer-term solution for staffing in this area for our students.  We are appreciative of our talented and dedicated substitute teachers, but It is important that all students receive consistent instruction.

In turn, I will be assuming the role of Middle/High School Principal during this temporary period, and will also maintain my current responsibilities as Superintendent of Schools.  My administrative colleagues will provide support and assistance when and where needed during this period, but the responsibility will primarily be mine.  Our Dean of Students and Counseling Office will continue to assist as well, and I thank them for their continued support and commitment.

It is important to note these staffing changes will not incur any additional financial burden on the District and these are temporary.

Our District is committed to providing our students with high quality instruction in all areas, and this model will serve us best moving forward.  We simply ask for your continued patience and understanding, as we all adjust these temporary roles and additional responsibilities.
