mask update

June 4, 2021

Dear Lyndonville Families,

With the upcoming weather forecast showing temperatures in excess of 90 degrees, and in light of the recently changed rules for masking at daycare centers and summer camps, mask requirements for students in the Lyndonville Central School District have been changed to the following:

Students will be allowed to take their masks off when they are outside, whether at recess, a scheduled class activity or for physical education class.  This approval also applies to adults who supervise these students outside.

With the new outdoor mask policy, students will be kept 6 feet apart as much as practical.  Please understand that in certain areas, such as playgrounds, students may be closer than 6 feet.  Students and adults are free to continue to wear masks when they are outside, if they so choose.  However, we will not be able to supervise who is supposed to wear a mask and who is not when outside.

Please understand that this change is only for students and staff who are outside.  When students and staff are inside or on a bus, mask wearing will still be required as per our current policy.  Our recently completed capital project has provided air conditioning for nearly all classrooms and everyone will be able to remain cool and comfortable while inside.  Mask breaks will continue to be provided during the day as needed.

As always, thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,

Jason Smith

Superintendent of Schools
