Dear Parent/Guardian,

I hope you are doing well!  The purpose of this letter is to let you know that our high school band will be competing at the NYSSMA Majors Festival on April 25th.  I am so excited for our students- the high school band has never performed at a NYSSMA competition before, and it is one of the most rigorous levels of competition around!   On the morning of April 25th, we will depart from Lyndonville at 8:45am, and arrive at Spencerport High School around 10. We will warm up, perform, and stop on the way home for lunch.

Students will need to wear concert dress. Please be aware that NYSSMA’s rules are quite strict so make sure your dress/skirt is knee length when sitting.  Shoulders must be covered, and wear all black. Black stockings or tights.  Black tie if possible.

This competition is happening over April break, so please be aware that you will need to transport your child to school at 8:45 on Thursday, April 25th, and then pick them up when we return (which will be around 1:00pm.).

It is crucial that all students in our band attend. We are not the same without each member, and it will be amazing for all of us to get to experience this as a team.    We need every member present to perform at our best!

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have questions or concerns. I am thankful for your support of the music program and our young musicians!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Best
