The mathematics program at the middle school level is a continuation of the program developed in the elementary school following the New York State learning standards. Students will develop key mathematical understandings in the areas of mathematical reasoning, numbers and numeration, operations, modeling/multiple representations, measurement, uncertainty and patterns/functions.

Grades 5 and 6

In this course students will study addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of whole numbers, decimals, and fractions, percent, measurement, geometry, ratios and proportions, graphing, statistics, one-step equations and

problem solving. Students will have the opportunity for other enrichment activities to help them to become critical thinkers and problem solvers.
