School Lunch Menus:
-
Federal regulations require schools to serve meals at no extra charge to children whose disability restricts their diet in such a way that they cannot participate in the school meal program without some changes in the foods offered on the scheduled menu. Parents or guardians must request the special meals and provide the school with certification from a medical doctor. This medical certification must contain the following:
- Verification that special meals are needed due to the student’s disability.
- Recommendation/prescription for alternate foods and forms of food needed to meet the student’s special dietary needs.
Allergies:
While the school is not required to offer supplemental foods or monitor students’ diets, we will make every effort to ensure the safety and well-being of your child. If your child has a severe food allergy, please send the following information to the school nurse (585-765-3124) , Link who will notify the Food Service director and the classroom teachers:
- Parent letter requesting special meals with certification from a medical authority stating the foods that are potentially dangerous or life threatening.
- Prescription from a registered dietician or medical authority listing the alternate foods that meet your child’s special dietary needs.
*If your child is lactose intolerant, a signed medical note from your physician (state requirement) must be on file in order for an alternative drink choice to be offered in place of milk.
For questions about the breakfast or lunch programs, please contact Food Service Director at 585-765-3166
If a parent has been denied a meal modification by the food service director, parents may file a grievance with the Assistant Superintendent for Finance if they feel their request for a meal modification was denied wrongfully. To request a grievance, please email Daniel Dragula. The email subject should include “Meal Modification Grievance”. Should a meeting be necessary, the School Business Administrator will schedule a meeting on the grievance within 10 business days. The District will not prepare meals outside the normal menu to accommodate a family’s religious or personal health beliefs. -
