Dear Lyndonville Families and Staff,

We are excited to welcome everyone back to school this week. Grades 1–12 begin on Tuesday, Sept. 2, and Pre-K 3–4 and Kindergarten begin on Wednesday, Sept. 3. The first days of school are always full of excitement, and we are eager to begin a safe, positive, and productive year together.

I also want to share important information regarding a situation that came to our attention this weekend. Some students and families alerted us to inappropriate social media posts from a student in our district. Working closely with law enforcement, the matter was thoroughly investigated. Law enforcement determined that the posts do not constitute a credible threat. Even so, the posts were inappropriate and taken very seriously. In the current climate—and especially in light of recent national events—it is important for all students to understand that posts of this nature are unacceptable and carry consequences.

I want to express our gratitude to our law enforcement partners for their swift action. We are fortunate to have a strong relationship with local law enforcement and the New York State Police. I’ve learned quickly that it is another great feature of the Lyndonville community.

As we begin the new year, I’d also like to remind families that our No Cell Bell to Bell expectations are now in effect. Students should keep phones, Bluetooth listening devices, and Apple watches (or similar devices) in their lockers or put away during the school day. This supports both a safe school environment and a strong focus on learning.

Thank you for your partnership in helping us maintain a safe, supportive, and engaging environment for all students. We look forward to a great school year ahead!

Dr. Heather Lyon, Superintendent
