Mrs. Kingsbury and Miss Mufford's class demonstrated February's Core Belief with "Bee Breathing" and Reading Wonder's Social Emotional Learning component!

Our core belief for February, learning and growth require a safe, caring environment, was the basis of our most recent Tiger Way Campaign. Teachers were on the lookout for students displaying safe and caring behaviors. When identified, they were rewarded with Tiger Tickets to be redeemed at the school store. A special thank you to Kim Dumond for coordinating the Tigers Hollow store with her students.

Throughout the month, students focused on February’s Core Belief. Mid-year grade level assemblies were held for the middle and high school students to present updates and reminders regarding student conduct. Learning and growth require a safe, caring environment was the theme of each assembly. Topics included online safety, Tiger Way expectations in hallways and preparedness for class. The upper elementary students participated in peace circles with Mrs. Fleck and Mrs. Barry, and our K-3 students participated in Tiger Way with full-class lessons with counselors.

Throughout the district, various departments focused on how learning and growth requires a safe, caring environment emphasizing social and emotional well-being.

IT Department: In conjunction with department stakeholders and the Board of Education, the Information and Technology Department developed a detailed plan to update the school’s security surveillance, the building intrusion and door access control, the public address system, all electronic message boards and the phone system in an effort to keep our students and staff safe and informed.

Ultimately, this will enhance the district’s safety plan and will be an addendum to existing policies. The IT Department will continue to focus efforts on managing all aspects of information technology to maintain a level of comfort and safety, while allowing more time for teachable moments for our students.

Food Service:  The entire staff, especially the monitors, support and supervise the students while in the cafeteria to ensure a safe and caring environment throughout all breakfast and lunch periods.

Buildings & Grounds: For the reopening of the Elementary School, B&G focused on ensuring classrooms and furniture were clean and safe. The heating system was inspected and security measures were taken to control and monitor the entryway.

Transportation:  Lyndonville has well-maintained buses and caring, highly-trained drivers. Our bus drivers establish positive relationships with the students they transport each day. They greet students as they board and exit the bus in a friendly manner. They take time to get to know their passengers and work with the students to understand and respect LCS bus rules. By ensuring a safe bus environment for all, the drivers are able to focus on safely transporting their passengers.

Business Office:   Our business office keeps the district running smoothly and ensures staff are being paid and have benefits, necessary purchases are made and human resource requirements are met. By ensuring these needs are fulfilled, the administrators, teachers and staff can focus on the educational needs and well-being of the students. Occasionally, the Business Office staff provides learning opportunities and guidance to students through career days, entrepreneurship panel, accounting assistance to classes/clubs, and they assist with field trip processing.

Nurse: Mrs. Kurz, our school nurse, regularly assists our students with their medical needs. She consistently communicates with families and teachers for the physical health and safety of all our students.

As a district, it is our priority to provide a safe, caring environment for our students so they can continue to learn and grow. February provided numerous examples of how LCS excels with this core belief.
