update

August 10, 2021

Dear Lyndonville Families,

As you may have heard last week, the New York State Department of Health announced that no guidance or direction would be provided to schools this year regarding opening the school year under COVID-19 protocols and procedures.  We were just given this news late last week, and we have begun the process at our District to determine the best, safest, and most reasonable manner to have all students return to school.  However, just today, we were informed that the State Education Department would be releasing their own guidance.  Confusing?  Frustrating?  Absolutely!

While I have no concrete answers to provide you yet, I can tell you work is well underway to address the following items in an efficient manner, regardless of forthcoming direction from State Education:

·         Daily temperature checks

·         Social distancing

·         Use of barriers

·         Use of masks:  how often, when, and where?

·         Cafeteria usage for lunch

·         Busing arrangements

Our current goal (subject to change) is to present a plan to our Board of Education on Monday, August 23rd for review, comment, and approval.  The plan will be made available to you prior to the Board meeting, as part of the Board agenda and will be posted to our website (I will also send out a text and e-mail message with the link).

I have already met with the Orleans County Health Department, and meet on a regular basis with our neighboring districts.

Please look for more information regarding our plans by next Friday, August 20th, pending the release of guidance from State Education.

Of course, you may contact me with questions, comments, or concerns at any of the contact information below.

Thank you.
