November

November 5, 2021

Dear Lyndonville Families and Community,

November is one of my favorite months of the year for a variety of reasons:  we celebrate and pay tribute to our veterans, recognize our democratic heritage on Election Day, give thanks for our blessings on Thanksgiving, and start to think about the holiday season.  In addition, there are some special school events, such as our annual Senior Play, the start of winter sports, and an opportunity for our parents and teachers to connect on Parent/Teacher Conference Day.  Finally, we recognize our School Related Professionals (SRPs) on November 16th, which includes our clerical staff, nurse, aides, assistants, bus drivers, food service staff, custodians, and computer technicians—we thank them for their dedication in making our school system run and for all their behind the scenes work!

This year for Parent/Teacher Conferences, we will be offering both virtual/phone and in-person opportunities.  One of the lessons we learned last year from COVID is that there are alternative ways to meet, and many of our parents/families appreciate this flexibility as it relates to work schedules.  We will need to adhere to all COVID-19 protocols for in-person conferences, which include:

1)  Conferences may not last more than 15 minutes.

2)  All participants must wear a mask at all times.  Masks will be provided if needed by front office staff.

3)  Participants are to remain six feet apart.

We thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding.  There is no school for students on Friday, November 19th, as this day is dedicated for Parent/Teacher Conferences.

Our partnership with the Lyndonville Lions Club continues to remain strong, as next week several of our students will be inducted as Leos.  This is a wonderful way to encourage the importance of being civic-minded in our students.  Many of our student clubs already engage in service projects, and if your child is not involved in one of our clubs, please consult our principals for more information.

Speaking of service, you may now register to be a volunteer right on our website if you wish to volunteer at our school.  Our Board has already approved several volunteers, and we welcome your application.  Please visit this link for more information and the on-line application:  volunteer info

If you have not already read the fall Applegram, it is available here:  Applegram   Paper copies are also available at the school office, village/town halls, library, and post office.  We have some great Homecoming pictures, staff recognitions, and information about upcoming music programs.

On the COVID-19 front, I continue to work closely with our Health Department regarding these matters, as the guidance and regulations change almost weekly.  We continue to do our best at school to reduce and eliminate quarantines by keeping 3 feet of distance, wearing our masks as required, and practicing good hygiene.  Please continue to reinforce these habits at home to ensure our students remain in school and avoid unnecessary quarantines.

Please enjoy all that November has to offer, and look for my next update on November 19th.

Thank you.
