On Jan. 24, the Genesee Valley School Boards Association Annual Legislative Leadership Day was held at Letchworth Central Schools. Twenty-five area school district programs, along with GVBOCES, were recognized for the 2025 school year and LCSD was one of them! The district received an Excellence in Student Services Award for their Tiger Talks student newspaper that produces regular print and online editions. Junior and Senior High School students collaborate to write articles, edit content, take photographs, design layouts and distribute publications. The club emphasizes journalism skills, teamwork, leadership and authentic student voices. The newspaper gives students a platform to reflect student interests, report on school events and strengthen communication within the school community. Congratulations!

These coloring sheets were submitted to teacher Emma Baldwin for the "Sweet Shades: Coloring Challenge" from page 14 in the Tiger Talks February edition: https://aptg.co/_0Kxlf.

Students in grades 7-12 had a choice between coloring the Winnie the Pooh or Valentine's themed pages to participate in the challenge. Each participant earned a chocolate prize for submitting a complete, neat and colorful page. There are still chocolates left so ... get to coloring!

Fourth grade students practiced collaboration, problem-solving and pattern recognition with jigsaw puzzles in the library. These are important skills that align with our Computer Science and Digital Fluency Standards, but can be used in daily life, all while having fun! Students were led in this activity by Library Media Specialist Bridget Collins and Library/Media Aide Amy Kroll.
