A bald eagle was spotted flying over the district yesterday. While eagles normally like to fish in open water, winter causes them to become scavengers for their meals. They will hang out near bodies of water because other animals are attracted to the water, too. We are lucky to be able to spot them occasionally in this part of the world!

First graders in Americus Burke and Amy Muscato's class spent time learning about polar/Arctic animals, specifically the polar bear and penguin. They wrote about these animals, picked their favorite and completed an experiment where they used "blubber" (coconut oil) to see how polar bears stay warm in the cold!
